Working Farm

Athol and Viv have been farming for 35 years. They moved to Stanford in the Western Cape. The farm is situated on the Klein river very close to town.

Athol grows food crops and grains for his 250 sheep. He has also been a passionate beekeeper for many years and keeps his hives on neighbouring farms. He grows food crops for the restaurant and also for local market. His has been beekeeping for many years and which led to his interest in making Mead. He has a micro manufacturing facility attached to the Restaurant where he produces a product called Mead which is honey wine.

Viv is a very creative person. Her passion for both painting and cooking has taken her on a wonderful journey of self discovery,

Viv is inspired by the animals & landscapes which she is privileged to enjoy as a farmers wife. Viv has opened a ceramic and art gallery / studio where you can come browse to your hearts content.

Viv has always enjoyed cooking , when she moved to the Western Cape the idea to open a restaurant and gallery made sense. The kitchen is simply an extension of her creativity.

Her love of ‘old things’ and frequent trips to the second hand shops all over the Overberg is evident in the interesting building which gives it a vintage feel with great ambiance.

Marley, the Labrador is the resident meet and greet,  and simply loves children.
