Art, Ceramics & Fabric Painting

Vivienne McOnie has been a passionate artist for over 20 years and is self taught. She is married to Athol, who is a farmer, and they live on a farm just outside of Stanford in the Western Cape. Her inspiration comes from the wonderful landscapes , fauna and flora that are so abundant in the overberg. Viv has recently started doing ceramics and enjoys the tactile medium of clay.

Art Gallery

Viv likes to paint in Oils and Acrylics. Her subjects are Proteas, Landscapes and Traditional South African scenes, such as flower pickers.

Ceramic Gallery

Viv enjoys the medium of clay both on the wheel and slab work. She paints proteas because of their popularity.
Her bowls and platters all have a charm of their own.

Fabric Painting

Viv makes functional hand painted fabric items such as table runners and place mats. All the items have Shwe Shwe fabric detail. This is the traditional fabric worn by the Xhosa women when they are married, called “Makoti”
